I’m Thinking I’m Back! (For Now)

Did the ending of that title feel a little anti-climactic? Good—it was meant to be! After all, it takes a guy like Keanu Reeves to pull off that level of cool, and I’m definitely not of that caliber just yet.

So, what’s the news? Well, with some breathing room between writing-group assignments, mixed with a whole lot of grit and enthusiasm on my part, I’ve finally begun in earnest my work on the numerous posts I have planned for the John Wick series.

I fully expect that it’ll take a while to get this all done, especially with needing to wrap my schedule around family, novel work, social interactions, and soon enough the writing groups again. What’s more, many of the original posts planned are based on my analyses of content from only the first two films. My plan for those is to go ahead and post them when they’re finished, but then add updates once I have the third film on Blu-Ray or another personal format, as the Wick films are definitely ones that require the capability to pause, slow down, and rewind things if I want to have even a faint hope of picking up many of the details and intricacies.

Initially I had resigned myself to not being able to get any of these posts done prior to the film’s official premiere date of May 17, 2019. That’s less than a week from now, after all. But it occurred to me that there were a few particular posts—the ones dealing with theories and predictions related to the newest film—that really needed to go live prior to the premiere.

And as much as I love these films and want to make good use of my current brief reprieve, I realized this was a task worth trying for. So right now I’m trying to channel some of Mr. Wick’s well-known qualities: focus, commitment, and sheer fudgin’ will. Not an easy thing when you’ve got challenges like special-needs family members and chronic health problems of your own. But as someone who’s continued doing work I couldn’t stand even when seriously ill, you better believe that if I don’t complete this task—at least three posts prior to the premiere, not counting this one—for a franchise and character that I absolutely love (and I have immense admiration for the actor, as well), it won’t be for a lack of trying.

So tick-tock, let’s go! And guess what? You can find the first post right here!
