Additionally, I’m an up-and-coming fiction author (chiefly romantic suspense), poetry/lyric writer, and writing-group alumni who’s also done some blogging and making bead-woven jewelry on the side.
My planned romantic-suspense series is currently simmering on the back burner as I focus on freelance proofreading and light copyediting. It’s an exciting thing to be able to niche down into the type of work that I prefer.
As a proofreader: I look forward to being able to help great projects move forward and help wonderful authors present themselves and their work in the best possible light. And it’s Oxford comma all the way!
As an author: Whether via my poetry, fiction, or blogging, the primary goal with my writing is to try to educate people, convey positive messages, and share the kinds of truths & perspectives that often aren’t commonly discussed or spread.
I’d describe my work as socially conscious, but not in the stereotypical way you see often these days, where you have all these feel-good popular taglines that don’t actually hold up to deeper scrutiny. As an example: abusive, harmful, and degrading behavior isn’t okay simply because you slap a “love” label on it. Abusers do that all the time.
