Despite some serious and deep-seated issues, Eren Jaeger also has a quite compassionate and thoughtful side, plus a noteworthy ability to grow and adapt. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean all is forgiven.

Some folks think that Erwin should’ve discarded Eren while he still had the chance. But I think it’s more likely that Erwin would’ve been rather pleased over time with Eren’s tactical abilities and increasingly ruthless use of them.
